A Christmas Wedding in Chester

The gorgeous Sian and Howie’s beautiful Christmas wedding at The Double Tree Hilton in Chester.

Where did you meet

We have known each other since secondary school.

The proposal

A very romantic proposal on Junkanoo Beach in The Bahamas. We had been on an amazing 3-week holiday around America that ended with a cruise around The Bahamas, Howie had wanted to propose much earlier on in the holiday, but me (being the bossy boots that I am) kept finding reasons not to want to go to the locations he had in mind! I couldn’t understand why he wanted to go to The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco at night time when we had already been over it on a bus AND under it on a boat! Little did I know!! However, it ended up being a lovely private proposal on a beautiful beach where we had a hammock and cocktails, and then went swimming with dolphins – an amazing day!

The Venue

We always knew we would get married in St Barnabas Church as it is the ‘family’ church, where all weddings, christenings and funerals have taken place, so it was only natural ours was there too. The Doubletree Hilton, Chester was the first of only two venues we visited, and we loved it straight away. We loved how we were able to have the 3 different areas of the hotel, we thought the Abbey Suite (the breakfast room) was particularly beautiful, and the staff were great too.

What was the most memorable part of your day?

Every moment of it was memorable! From walking down the aisle, to eating our first meal as husband and wife with all our closest friends and family, to partying all night long!
