jb preview-34

Jen and Bo married in a such a beautiful spot in Wales, the Gower cost is truly magical and it was such a honour to be asked to capture their day at the wonderful Ocean View Windmill.

Where did you meet

Bo and I met online. We had our first date on a summers evening in a pub and chatted for hours. We hit it off immediately and the rest is history really!

The proposal

Bo proposed on my birthday in December. I had joked during the day at work that I would like a ring for my birthday but was very shocked when it actually happened. I arrived home late after a long shift and there were candles leading me to the lounge. On the floor written in rose petals was ‘marry me’. It was perfect. I said yes!

Wedding planning

We planned the wedding in 7 months so we had to be quite decisive! I knew that I wanted to get married at home on the Gower and the sea had to be part of the day. My Mum found the venue and rang me up to let me know. It sounded great so we headed down to Wales from London to have a look. Being Wales it was of course raining. Despite the weather we loved the venue and knew that if it looked that good in the rain, it would be fabulous for a summer wedding. It had a view of the sea in the background, which was perfect. The venue provided a wedding planner, which was so helpful and took a lot of the stress away. The catering was also carried out by the venue, with lots of good local Welsh food.

We are not religious so found a fantastic lady called Alison Parker, who arranged a humanist ceremony for us, with lots of lovely personal touches on the day.

There were so many great moments. Getting ready with my bridesmaids. The first moment I walked into the ceremony and saw Bo smiling. The fabulous pianist, who played Einaudi and Romeo and Juliet during the ceremony. The speeches, which were all perfect and of course the photobooth at the end of the evening that provided endless laughs!

I found my dress within a couple of weeks from a gorgeous wedding boutique called High Society in Cowbridge. I went for a Sassi Holford design, that my dad helped me pick. I think it was the fifth dress that I tried and I loved it. I had two fittings with Rhiannon J in Cardiff and she was great, offering lots of tips for moving around and other dress related issues! My accessories were from Monica Vinader. I wanted something different and loved the rose gold.

Any advice for future couples wedding planning?

Try to take it all in on the day because it flies by!

We were so happy with the flowers, which were done by Simone Robbins, a florist based in Mumbles. They filled our house for days after and it was a sad moment when they had to go.

The band were excellent. They were ‘The Peachys’, based in Bristol. We found them online. They did two great sets, which were really varied and got a lot of people on the dance floor. We will definitely go and see them play again if we can.

The photobooth came from a company called Smoothbooth. They were professional and the prints were good quality, with a lot of costume variety.

The make-up was done by Emily Porter and hair by Adele Garland, both Swansea based. They did my hair and make-up and the five bridesmaids and worked so professionally and quickly. We were so happy with the results.

We didn’t want a traditional wedding cake, so went for cupcakes. They were from a local business ‘Cwtch Cakes’. They went down a storm and they provided an individually wrapped vegan cupcake for one of our guests.

The final big up has to go to Lucy for the incredible photos, which we will treasure forever. I am quite fussy about photos so spent some time choosing, but we definitely made the right choice. Thanks so much xx
