Rustic Barn Wedding at Home in Herefordshire – Suzy and Adam
Suzy and Adam’s day was simply wonderful, full of family, friends, laugher and dancing. They married at the beautiful historic Garway Chruch, where I have been lucky enough to photograph in before. Then the reception was held and Suzy’s parents house, after a lot of hard work had been transformed into a beautiful idilic wedding venue, the barn was incredible and the gardens where so perfect for a wedding. Suzy, Adam and baby Tommy are a perfect little family and it was such a pleasure to spend the day capturing their wedding. Thank you so much both for choosing me. Now over to Suzy and Adam who have kindly written a little about how they met and their wedding.
Where did you meet?
We met in 2010 at a point to point in Bredwardine which was taking place just a few fields away from Adam’s family home so he didn’t have to go far! We then found out we would both be going out in Hereford that evening and so we met later on and Adam got my number.
When Adam first asked for my number in the club it was very noisy and he thought I had said no! So he then started walking away and I was very confused! I had to pull him back and give him my number!
The proposal
Adam proposed at home on my Birthday. Our two beloved Labradors were involved and wore bow ties and had cards hanging from their collars with the proposal inside.
The Planning
While planning our wedding we were overjoyed to discover we were going to have one extra guest on the day as I fell pregnant with our son Tommy. It made our day even more special and romantic and Lucy was very understanding that we were also looking after our 3 month old during the day and she fitted in so well with us.
We chose Garway church as it was the church I went to as a little girl and is a very unique and beautiful Knights Templar church. Our vicar was a family friend which made the service even more personal.
We always knew we would have our reception at my parents home in a stone barn, this meant my parents had about a year to “do up” the barn and get it ready for the big day! We were lucky to have a completely unique reception and everyone was able to enjoy the sunshine in the beautiful gardens and relax and play games on the lawn.
It’s important to keep taking time to look around and take in each moment of the day. One of my most memorable moments was seeing Adam’s beaming smile as I entered the church. It was also wonderful to look around the barn during dinner and see all our friends and family enjoying the day with us. We also really enjoyed a bit of time out when we had our portrait session. Lucy made us feel completely at ease throughout the day and was fantastic at organising people and scouting out the best places for our photos.
We would advise couples to try and pick a really good band who get people up on their feet and dancing. Our band “dancing easy” were brilliant and did exactly that. We had a fantastic time dancing the night away with all our family and friends.
