Dewsall Court Wedding Photography – Nadia and JP

I am so delighted to share this incredible wedding, so full of love and Joy. Nadia and JP are just so perfect for each other, there family and friends were all so amazing and made me feel part of them during the day. Nadia and JP married at one of my favourite Herefordshire wedding venues, Dewsall Court, with a brilliant team of suppliers involved, I knew it was going to be a good day. They made the most of Dewsall having their ceremony on the lawn outside, over looking the black mountains, surrounded by beautiful flowers. With a reception in the stunning candlelit Wainhouse. We had lots of fun during their portraits around the grounds of Dewsall, before and after the wedding breakfast to capture the best light.

Nadia and JP have very kindly written all about their day and their story below for you to enjoy.

The Proposal

JP and I met at university in 2012 when I was studying for my Masters and he was doing his PhD. He agreed to come on a night out with me and my girlfriends where he jumped on stage and joined a random man in singing karaoke to the Aerosmith classic “Don’t Want To Miss A Thing”. I was utterly charmed by him and the rest is history! We dated for 5 years and in August 2017 we were in the South of France with some friends and JP and I went for a hike up the foothills of the Pyrenees. We stopped at a bench to look at the view and I did find it odd when JP repeatedly asked if I was still sweaty, until I eventually said I wasn’t sweaty anymore and he bent down on one knee with a beautiful ring and said “Surprise!”. I, of course, burst into tears and immediately said yes!

The Venue

Our good friends Abi and Pete had got married at Dewsall Court and I was delighted to be their bridesmaid. We both loved it but at the time I remember thinking it was a shame that we couldn’t get married there because they had. After getting engaged I tentatively wondered whether they would mind if we got married there too and they were thrilled with the idea! It was made even more special that Abi agreed to be my bridesmaid and their beautiful daughter Poppy was our flower girl. We visited a few different venues but my heart had always been set on Dewsall as it was such a beautiful and special venue with everything we wanted in one place. We loved that we could have it to ourselves for the whole weekend and have all our loved ones staying there. It was important to us that all the food for the whole weekend was gluten-free and they did an amazing job in making sure everything looked beautiful and tasted incredible. You would never have known that everything was gluten-free.

The Dress

I loved wedding dress shopping, what could be better than spending an afternoon trying on beautiful dresses with good friends and a glass of bubbly! I tried a few different places and then found my dress at the Warwickshire Bridal Boutique. Madi and her team were so helpful and we loved visiting their beautiful shop. I ended up choosing a two-piece Martina Liana outfit made up of a lace corset and skirt. Abi from Make It Sew did an amazing job in altering the outfit and adding some straps on. My favourite part of the outfit was my lace trimmed cathedral length veil which had been my Mum’s when she got married in the 80’s. It had been kept in the attic for all these years and still looked pristine!

I wanted my bridesmaids to be co-ordinated but not matching so we went with multiway dresses from Victoria Lou Bridal so they could all style them in whatever way they were comfortable with.

Most Memorable Moments

I slept awfully the night before and was having palpitations the morning of our wedding, the moment I saw JP all the anxiety went away in an instant. Walking down the aisle with my wonderful Dad by my side towards the man I love was such a special moment. That’s the moment I will cherish forever!

My second favourite part of our wedding day was right at the end of the night. We had an amazing band play called ‘Academy of Soul’ who were incredibly talented and kept the dance floor filled all night! When they sadly had to stop playing at the end of the night it was clear that no-one was ready for the party to end so one of our friends started up an a-cappella rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. This quickly caught on and we ended our wedding day with a circle of our friends all singing together with our arms around each other. It was an amazing moment but I have since seen some video footage and lets just say that in my memory we sounded a lot better than we did on the film!

Maggie and Louise at ‘The Herefordshire Flower Studio’ did an incredible job with our flowers. We let them know what we liked and they ran with it and created a beautiful arch that we had as the backdrop to our ceremony.

Jan from ‘Emily Rose Cakes’ created a gluten-free cake that was both beautiful and delicious. We particularly loved her generosity when we went cake tasting and we were able to try so many tasty gluten-free creations!

Beth from ‘Hair Comes The Bride‘ did an amazing job of creating up-dos for my bridesmaids and me, and was incredibly efficient! Our makeup was done by Anastasia from ‘Makeup by Anastasia’ in Hereford who worked her magic and made us look incredible.

The illustrations for our invitations were done by Sarah Reynolds, a family friend who created some beautiful floral and foliage designs for us. This was then turned into our invitations and stationery by my brother, Omar, who is a graphic designer. This gave us the chance to not only have exactly what we wanted but to also have something created by someone close to us which was very special.

Tom Cherrill and his partner Brigid were our wedding videographers. Somehow they managed to film all the important moments without us even really noticing they were there! They also caught lots of little moments that we wouldn’t have otherwise seen and they did all this with creativity and skill. We have watched their films on many occasions and it brings a tear to my eye every time.

Last but not least, Lucy! The beautiful photos speak for themselves. When we were looking for photographers we looked at a range of different styles but loved the warmth that shone through Lucy’s photos. Having met her now it all makes sense! Lucy was a wonderful addition to our wedding day. Her humour and friendliness made it a joy to have her with us and I think you can see that in the photos that she took. We had both been a bit nervous about having our photos taken and aren’t particularly comfortable posing in front of a lens but she made us both feel at ease. I had so many friends come up to me to compliment Lucy but also to say how much they wanted to be her friend!

We felt very lucky with how the day turned out and are so thankful to everyone who made it such a special day!
