Sally and Jack – Lyde Court, Hereford Wedding Photography
Sally & Jack
We met when we were in high school. We went to different schools on the opposite side of town and Jack used to see me taking the bus home and one day he plucked up the courage to give me a little wave. We ended up meeting through mutual friends and 14 years later got married!
Jack proposed on holiday in Cornwall. We wanted to take our dog Rory on his first holiday with us so we hired a VW campervan for a long weekend and he proposed one evening while we were walking on the beach watching the sunset.
We found our venue through a friend’s recommendation and it was one of the best decisions we made. We loved it the minute we walked into the barn and we were so pleased the weather was good enough for us to have the ceremony outside.
We planned the wedding together. I did most of the research but as I’m quite indecisive Jack would make the final decisions from a couple of options I’d found.
There isn’t one part of the day that is most memorable for us, it was all amazing! But a few highlights would be the ceremony and saying the vows we’d chosen to say to each other, also having our labrador Rory with us for photos, looking handsome in his bow tie, and the first dance, which we were a bit nervous about but actually absolutely loved.
We first thought the suits were a bit risky, but the brown waistcoat and trousers with navy jack worked perfectly, and was in keeping with the style of the venue. I loved my dress, I always wanted a lace dress, and the champagne underneath gave it that something extra.
Our advice for future couples would be to enjoy planning your big day, don’t obsess too much over the smaller details, and remember to take a few minutes with each other on the day to take it all in, as it goes in a flash.
We could not recommend Lyde Court highly enough, the staff were incredibly efficient and professional, and also made us feel like part of their family, they really took an interest in what we wanted our day to be like. The grounds were immaculate, and the presentation of the barn and bar area was beautiful.
Tabby, my hairdresser was just brilliant, and jack’s cousin Jess did my make up which was lovely as she got to spend some of the morning with us. Our flowers were done by the Great British Florist and Alex was amazing helping me to work out what I wanted, as I know nothing about flowers! I loved the flowers so much I took most of them on our minimoon to the Cotswolds with us to decorate our cottage. We’d also like to give a shout out to our band Fraudio. They were absolutely amazing and people were dancing all night!
Finally, lucy – what can we say? She has felt like a friend from the moment we got in touch and has not only been an amazing photographer but has offered advice and tips along the way. So many of our guests have said how awesome she was on the day and we now can’t stop looking at the amazing photos she has taken. Thank you Lucy!
