Brockencote Hall Wedding Photography, Worcestershire – Claire and James
Claire and James, married on a amazing hot english summer day. They picked to wonderful venues for their day, the lovely St Peter’s church near my home town in Harborne, Birmingham and the stunning Brockencote Hall in Kidderminster. Claire and James, are a wonderful couple, so truly made for each other, it was a emotional day and such a honour and a joy to capture. Claire and James have kindly written a few words about there day, to over to the happy couple!!…
How did you both meet?
James and I met online. We arranged a first date at a bar in Birmingham. Initially I thought I’d been stood up, but when James rocked up 45 minutes late I learnt that this was just an example of his usual time-keeping skills!
The Proposal
James surprised me with a trip to Rome for my birthday. One evening he insisted on trekking up a hill and despite my complaints of ‘can’t we just go for dinner’ and ‘why are we walking in a park when it’s getting dark’ he stuck to his guns and led me to Giardino degli Aranci – the orange gardens on the Aventine hill – just in time to watch the sunset over the Vatican. After the American segway tour departed he picked his moment and got down on one knee!!
The Venue
St Peter’s is our local church in Harborne, Birmingham. We wanted this local link and it had the added bonus that my choir, Vivat!, could provide the music for our ceremony which made it extra special. Brockencote Hall – well, we just fell in love with this place as soon as we saw it. We both felt it was very ‘us’.
What was the most memorable part of your day?
We couldn’t possibly pick one thing – the whole experience was amazing! We still keep thinking back and remembering little details or happenings. Think we have enough memories to last a lifetime.
Outfits
The groom and groom party suits were all Carisbrooke navy blue tails provided by Moss Bros. We were really happy with them. My dress was by Madison James for Allure Bridal. I love the halterneck style and as soon as I saw this dress there was no question – it was mine! My shoes were by Rachel Simpson. They were the perfect height and really comfy. I had no problems keeping them on well into the evening and they counted as my ‘something blue’. My jewellery was a vintage ring that belonged to my grandmother (old and borrowed) and my bracelet was a gift from James on the wedding morning.
Any advice to future brides and grooms.
Enjoy the planning but don’t sweat the small stuff! My friend gave me this advice at the time and I didn’t believe her, but she was right. On the day all that matters is the people you have around you.
