Third Year of University Pt. 2

Salcombe

So half way through the magazine, I had a little idea, I really wanted to shoot on a beach. Letitia (My housemate) suggested that we went down to here childhood holiday spot Salcombe in Devon. So we packed up here little Renault Twingo and headed south. We stayed in this great hotel that where running a fab deal that included dinner and breakfast, the food was amazing and the room and a balcony with a stunning view up and down the estuary.

Here is a little film of the view, and a very noisy sea gull!

We had a lovely time it was pretty cold but we had bright sunshine the whole time we where there. Although it wasn’t all relaxing, I had arranged a lovely photoshoot, on Burgh Island with an award winner surfer who braved the cold for these great photographs.

So before I knew it the magazine was laid out  and at the printers and all I had to organise was the small matter of putting up and holding an exhibition.

A few other people from my course and I found a great location in a complex in the centre of Nottingham, and they were willing to lend us a empty unit (recession working in our favour). We had to paint the place and put up a temporary wall the hang some of our work on. It was really hard work the place needed a lot more coats of paint than originally thought, and we spent lots of late nights covered in paint. In my area of the exhibition I wanted somwhere that people could sit down and read the magazine, so I dragged a sofa and chair all the way up to the space. They where super comfy and a big hit!

Having a brake from all the hard work on the sofa.

The great view from the window of the gallery.

We went to Ikea to get some simple chairs to sit on while invigilating the exhibition, we came back with funky deck chairs and a rug that looks like grass! haha

Prints from the magazine all hung up.

Magazines printed and all laid out.

So everything was ready and it was then time to sort out our big opening party! The night was mad we had lots of Cava and nibbles, I was totally overwhelmed by the whole evening I was so happy and grateful that so many people came to support me not just my uni friends but family friends travelled all the way to Nottingham to be there. It was a lovely evening that I will never forget.

And that was that with a flick of a hat and thousands of pounds later, university was over.
